Bankers…II

by on July 14, 2010

So, now to pick up the story.  It’s early April, about six weeks or so after I finally receive my distribution…and the subject is still sticking in my craw.  So I decide to ask a friend in the financial advising business what he thinks.  I tell him the story and his advice is to ask the trusty bankers ( it’s PNC Bank, BTW ) for a more thorough explanation.

Well, ok then.  Seems like a very reasonable and non-confrontational way to get to the bottom of the issue.  I still don’t anticipate this to amount to much other than I’ll get some explanation they’ve got me on a technicality.  So I call here-to-fore friendly banker and make the request.  I don’t actually talk to him but I leave a message…and then another several days later…and then again later still.

And then I do get a call…to let me know that I’m speaking to the wrong banker…another is in charge of the account management…and so much time has gone by that they’ll need to “have someone” research the issue.  Ok, I say, no problem, expecting to get a call in a day or two.

Well’ you probably can figure out that that didn’t happen.  So after a week, I call…and leave a message.  Then again…and leave a message.  I’m now calling and leaving messages for all three gents involved with my account.  Only one bothers to return my call and he’s the one that’s likely uninvolved.  Amazingly enough, I’m still pretty relaxed and thinking they still have me for not signing the second paper.  But, at the same time, I don’t think they did all that could have been done to alert me to the situation.  I mean, emails are fine…if you get a chance to read them.  Where was the urgent phone call?

Then, out of the blue, I get a call from a woman who’s VP of Trust Management (or something similar)…and now it gets really interesting.  Read about it in the next post
